Saskatchewan

The province of Saskatchewan runs a comprehensive immigration program that supports applications from the following eight streams:

  • Skilled Workers – individuals with offers of employment in skilled occupations or from a designated list of trades or who are presently working in Saskatchewan for at least six months on a valid work permit;
  • Students – individuals who have graduated from a Canadian school and are presently working in Saskatchewan for at least six months and have a permanent, full-time offer can apply for nomination. Note: the job offer does not have to relate to field of studies.
  • Entrepreneurs - A minimum net worth of $300,000 Canadian Dollars (CAD) that can be verified; minimum three years entrepreneurial or relevant business management experience; have a minimum active investment of $150,000 CAD in the Province of Saskatchewan (in a new or acquired business) or, if the applicant owns less than 1/3 of the business, the total investment must be worth at least $1 million CAD; make a $75,000 good faith deposit.
  • Family members living and working in Saskatchewan may sponsor relatives who: are between 18 and 49 years of age; have post-secondary degrees or diplomas and have at least one year of relevant work experience;
  • Farmers with a net worth of $500,000 or 300,000 (in the case of young farmers) may purchase a farm, depositing $75,000 in a trust account. Applicants must sign a performance agreement, have visited Saskatchewan, and provide evidence of relevant farming experience. A minimum of $150,000 investment in a farm is required;
  • Health Professionals – certain health professionals already licensed and working in Saskatchewan qualify for provincial nomination
  • Food and beverage servers, food counter helper and housekeeping staff may qualify as long as the employer has obtained approval prior to the employee arriving and working in Canada (which requires the issuance of a valid work permit and Labour Market Opinion from Service Canada). Workers who complete six months of employment may then qualify for nomination;
  • Long haul truck drivers currently working for at least six months, can through their employers apply for provincial nomination.
